A few people called and asked for clarification of what an art residency does…
In short it is a program for both young and established artists to work together in a communal environment, the residency supplies them with a living, and studio space, for a time.
During that time they will be able to create and work on current or new and collaborative projects between the art fellows, and at the end of the residency the works will be shown at the onsite gallery, people from the art community will be invited to view the works and interact with the fellows.
This program will vary from fellowship to fellowship keeping in mind our mission. Encompassing visual arts, literary arts and sculptural arts

Functions with the belief that the arts play a vital role in communication and the exchange of ideas, concepts, and cultures with the community on a local, national and international level.
XAR’s mission is to provide interactive and collaborative space for fellows from around the world. To help promote and cultivate the arts, providing opportunities to artists of many disciplines space to work and facilitate social, professional and cultural exchange. To expose and engage he local and global public to the message these artists provide for the general benefit of these communities as a whole. Enriching the life experience not only of the residents but all who visit XAR.
we have a mission! the mission is to procure a building we found in a beautiful area of pennsylvania to call home to our arts residency program called XAR, Xar was incorporated as a non profit company in November of 2011, and is currently applying for its 501(c)(3) status. we are finding that we need all the help we can, to get this project off the ground and any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated and will bennefit many in the future. We so desperately want this building…we are sure we can do great things here, things that bring people, skills, and communities together. Help others and inspire others to believe in their dreams and aspirations. But the all mighty dollar has reared its ugly head…
The price is not unreasonable, but too high for us to pay out of our current funds and we are concerned if we don’t seize this opportunity, the building will be lost. This building has a great history, on 4 acres, with more than enough space to house 10 to 12 fellows and provide studio space for each, more than 5000 square foot of open show space with room to spare for expansion, a huge sculpture garden space, and can easily function as event space… We see so many wonderful possibilities for this property we can’t even begin to list them all.
So we are embarking on several fund raising ideas, and are of course open to any you may be willing to share. Our goal is 50 thousand, which we know is a huge sum, but we are up for the challenge, and hope that you can spread the word far and wide, follow us, and share our posts as we progress towards our goal. We are open to any suggestions, or if you have a service you can volunteer, that would be a great help also.

I guess it goes a bit like this, we are seeking to set off on a new venture (please see our mission statement) we are looking to start a life promoting art and making it a part of our culture on a much greater level.
Engaging the community on all levels, providing opportunities for all types of people to move forward in the art world, and have a positive impact.
